Tioga too much for Denair, wins 3-0

The Union Democrat Sports Department /

After a good effort in losing a three-set match against non-conference opponent Denair, 20-25, 19-25, and 20-25, the Timberwolves (3-0, 4-3) bounced back with a three-set victory over Delta Charter in a Mountain Valley League conference match, 25-13, 25-15, and 25-11 on Thursday.

Tioga was led by the serving of sophomore Krysti Mitchell with five aces and 12 service points. Samantha Hindle contributed six kills and Brianna Deckard added five kills. Brianna Deckard and Melinda Pollock also added three aces each.

"We played well against Denair and were in every game until we had a stretch of four-to-six straight points when we couldn't get a side out," said Tioga head coach Tim Donovan. "The Delta team is really inexperienced and struggles to score on their own."
