Cats to face Oakdale for section championship

The Union Democrat Sports Department

Bring your family and friends ... and their friends - the place and time are set for the 2012 Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV Championships. The Sonora Wildcat baseball team will battle arch-rival Oakdale on Monday at 6 p.m. at Tony Zupo Field in Lodi.

The Wildcats are eyeing their second ever section title - the first came in 1989.

The

Mustangs are seeking their fifth section title in the last six years.

Oakdale owns three victories over Sonora this season (6-4, 3-1 and

11-5), but all those contests could have easily gone the other way. The

game will pit the two best pitchers this year in the Valley Oak League,

Sonora's Ryan Stevenson and Oakdale's Logan Handzlik.
