Murry wins soph cross country race

The Union Democrat Sports Department

The Summerville Bears travelled to Woodward Lake in Oakdale on Wednesday to run in the Escalon Invitational.

Due to injuries, the Bears had only two girls compete. Sophomore Morgan

Murry ran away with the sophomore girls race running the 2-mile course

in 13:56 and winning the gold medal. Sister Mikayla Murry placed 34th

in the varsity girls 3.1-mile race with a time of 25:17.

On the boys' side, Chris Graef led the varsity Bears with a 34th place finish in 21:51. Jake Kulik was 47th in 23:02.

The Bears next compete in an MLL meet near Farmington on Wednesday.
