The defending Mountain Valley League-champion Tioga Timberwolves started their 2011 MVL season in fine fashion with a 3-0 road win over Stockton Christian on Monday.

The scores were 25-10, 25-18, and 25-13.

"I think we played very well and we played hard," said Tioga's Samantha Hindle, the league's reigning Most Valuable Player.

Hindle had a team-high six kills and two serving aces.

Tioga's Brianna Deckard had four aces and four kills, Taylor Powell

had an ace and four kills and Megan Toney had two aces and four kills.

"We finally played a match with minimal errors and everyone played

and contributed," said Tioga head coach Tim Donovan. "We will always

have technique and positioning to work on in practice, but this was

certainly a good start for our league season."

Tioga (1-0) hosts Venture Academy of Stockton at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

"I think Venture is the team that will give us the most competition

in our league," said Hindle. "We've been getting a lot of fans showing

up to support us, showing us they want us to win and it definitely

helps."

As for the season, Hindle said, "I want us to go undefeated in our

league again like last year. And then I want us to win our playoff

game. More than that would be icing on the cake."
