Skiing: Main events at Bear, Dodge

SOME BIG EVENTS are ahead as the season progresses at both the Bear Valley and Dodge Ridge ski areas.

Bear's annual Reggae on the Mountain is set for April 12 at the 8,000-foot elevation featuring music, a micro-brew garden, a pond-skimming contest for skiers and snowboarders, and a exhibition of maneuvers by advanced skiers and boarders.

Dodge has a brewfest and day of live music planned for Feb. 22, and also has four installments of the Head Skis Sunday Race Series coming up Feb. 2 and 23 and March 2 and 9.

Another big Dodge event is the annual Pinecrest Invitational for elementary and high school skiers March 18.

BADGER PASS in Yosemite National Park still has 40 miles of cross-country trails open despite some warm weather.

Also open at Badger are the Turtle, Beaver, Rabbit, Eagle, Red Fox, Wildcat, Chipmunk, Badger and Bruin downhill runs.
