TURLOCK Sonora High School won 11 of 14 matches, including eight by pin, in a 62-15 Valley Oak League wrestling victory over Pitman.

Posting pins for the Wildcats (4-5-1, 2-1-1 VOL) were Nick Blume at 112 pounds, in 1:24 over Joseph Miller; Jed Mele at 135, in 1:25 over Emanuel Pepe; Andrew Ramirez at 140, in 2:36 over Joseph Bilger; Josh Moyle at 145, in 5:08 over Justan Plugenza; Joel DePaoli at 152, in 3:26 over Ben Shao; Rory Anderson at 189, in 1:41 over Rafael Palomino; Andrew Blume at 215, in 2:41 over Angel Torres; and Tim Bates at heavyweight, in 18 seconds over Tim Oushana.

Nick Blume, Moyle and Bates posted their first varsity victories on a night when Sonora had a full lineup for the first time this season.

Also, Gabe Prieto won by forfeit at 103, Jordan Depaoli 6-5 over Brian Haugland at 130, and Jex Baldwin 18-0 over Ren Wells at 160.

Pitman, a first-year school with no upperclassmen, actually led 6-0 after Jeremy Caudill pinned Mike Royce in the opening match at 125. Leonard David won a 7-5 decision for the Pride in the last match over Josh Ditler at 119, but in between Pitman's only victory was a first-round pin by Cristobal Perez against Robert Reed at 171.

Sonora's next match is Wednesday against East Union in Manteca.

Junior Varsity Sonora (3-3, 2-2) beat Pitman 60-18 behind pins by Eric Weeks (112), Trey Jamar (119), Ryan Stewart (130), John Constable (145), Josh Beutler (160), and Brandon Russell (171). All of Pitman's points were by forfeit.
