Junior rifle registration and a sight-in for deer season are coming up at the Mother Lode Gun Club.

Registration is Monday at 6 p.m. at the club's trap house on Jamestown Road and the first junior rifle session is Monday, Sept. 9. Participants must be at least 10 years old and parents must attend registration. Parents also are encouraged to attend the sessions at the club's newly improved indoor range.

Previous shooting experience is not required and guns, ammunition and targets will be provided. The cost is $15. Sanctioned by the National Rifle Association and instructed for the 10th year by Steve Finigian, the course instructs juniors on home safety, responsible handling of firearms and competition shooting.

The sight-in is Saturday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. to dusk. Honing can be done at distances of 100 and 200 yards, with targets and scopes provided. The session is free to club members and there's a $5 charge for non-members. Call Bob Taylor for information at 928-3745.
