A sanctioned skateboard competition is set for Saturday at the Sonora Skate Park on Greenley Road.

The event, dubbed NorCal Streetstyle No. 5, is endorsed by the California Amateur Skate League and the United Skateboard Federation. It begins at 8 a.m. with signups in the mini and novice divisions, and runs through 1 p.m. with competition in nine categories based on age and ability.

Awards are available for the top six finishers in each division, and skaters will earn points toward the 2002 CASL State Championships.

Fees are $60 for membership and insurance and $20 for the contest.
