Senior tennis tourney

The 2002 Tuolumne County Open Senior Century Tennis Tournament will be held on June 8 and 9 at the Columbia College and Sonora High School tennis courts.

The all-doubles tournament will not have a minimum age requirement, but the ages of both players must add up to at least 100 years of age. All matches will be an eight-game pro set with advantage, with tiebreakers in the event of a tie. There will be a consolation bracket so that all teams are guaranteed a minimum of two matches. All final matches will be a two-out-of-three set with United States Tennis Association rules applying.

The tournament proceeds will go toward academic and arts scholarships, support of the Sonora and Summerville high schools tennis programs, Tuolumne County court facilities, a dedicated fun with the Tuolumne County Recreation Department and other tennis programs.

Applications for preregistration must be submitted by Saturday. To request an application or for more information, contact Doug Johnston by phone at 532-8326 or by email at .
