City tourney bowling champs crowned

The big winners in the annual City Tournaments at Sonora Family Bowl were Mary White for women and John Miller and Larry Allen for men.

White won the singles championship with a handicap series of 718 and captured the all-events title with a total pinfall of 2,041. She also won the all-events scratch crown at 1,633, had the high scratch game of the womens tournament at 231 and finished second in doubles with Norma Espino.

Miller won the mens singles title at 798 and had the high scratch series a 758, while Allen won the all-events scratch division at 1,868 and had the high scratch game at 290.

Laura Persson and Mary Lou Crass won the womens doubles title at 1,281 and Y.P.M.S. (Yvonne Mattocks, Pearl Joiner, Melissa McKinney, Sharon McKinney) won the team title at 2,458. Raean Varner had the high scratch series at 596.

Robert Bryan teamed with Dan Isam to win in mens doubles at 1,400, and the team title was won by Marions Mobile Home Service (Marion Hinman, Rod Hirtzell, Bob Edwards, Dennis McKinney) at 2,829. Darrell Alloway won the all-events handicap title at 2,092.

The tournaments were sponsored by the Sonora Bowling Association and the Sonora Womens Bowling Association.
