Curtis Creek wins mat title

Curtis Creek Elementary Schools 13 champions out of 21 weight categories allowed it to easily outdistance runner-up Columbia Elementary School 507-235 for first place in the Tuolumne County Elementary Wrestling Tournament at Columbia College on Saturday.

In addition to Curtis Creeks 13 champs, the school also boasted an additional 13 wrestlers who placed second, third and fourth. Columbia finished with four individual champions and an additional 11 wrestlers placing second, third and fourth.

Individual champions for Curtis Creek were Eric Royce (62-pound weight class), Bradley Sooter (67 pounds), Curtis Duncan (72 pounds), Dylan Coffin (82 pounds), Chris Moeckel (87 pounds), Caleb Land (102 pounds), Trey Jamar (107 pounds), Sean Amend (112 pounds), Jordan DePaoli (117 pounds), Brian Pingree (122 pounds), Justin Baldwin (127 pounds), Jake Mele (147 pounds) and Morgan Wivell (157 pounds).

Columbias individual champions were Kyle Keith (77 pounds), Nick Blume (97 pounds), Andrew Blume (177 pounds) and Martin Andrada (heavyweight).

Other schools with individual champions were Tenaya (Eric Weeks, 92 pounds, Taylor Flossi, 137 pounds), Sonora (Spencer Stobaugh, 167 pounds) and Twain Harte (Larry Jones super heavyweight).
