Olson wins 9-hole crown


TWAIN HARTE ACE Bev Olson captured the individual championship of the Women's Nine-Hole Golf Association with a stellar performance at Rancho Murieta.

In what amounts to the association's tournament of champions, won the championship flight with a round of 46.

Earlier, she helped Twain Harte win the team championship of the association, which encompasses all of Northern California.

ANOTHER PLAYER from Twain Harte at the top of her game is Genna Briscoe, who has made three holes-in-one in the last couple months.

She did it again on her favorite hole, No. 5, holing her 8-iron tee shot from 115 yards during the regular Wednesday tournament of the 18-hole women's club.

GREENHORN CREEK played host to a best-ball, member-guest tournament that drew a field of 96 players from all over Northern California.

Foursomes consisted of two Greenhorn players and two guests. Members Jeanette Schneller and Adrienne Rosato teamed with Carol Wickersham from Meadowmont of Arnold and Georgia Loveless from Sequoia Woods, also of Arnold to win the first flight.

In the second flight, Jean Holston and Marlene Pisula won with Bev Dueck from De Laveaga of Santa Cruz and Diane Lowery from Forest Meadows of Murphys.

In the third flight, Betty Renati and Dorothy Zavack teamed up to win with unattached players Noel Ryan and Gayle Leksan.
