Volley Bears open second half with victory

The Summerville High School volleyball team opened the second half of their MLL season with an easy, three-game victory over Calaveras last night at the Summerville gym in Tuolumne.

"Last time, it took us five games against them," Summerville coach Kristy Dwyer said of her team's 25-18, 25-16, 26-24 win. "It was nice to get a three-game victory. Sometimes, we have a tendency to let teams hang around too long."

Jessica Fernandez was among the team leaders in serving, hitting, setting, serve-receive and digs.

"She kind of saved us, " Dwyer said.
