Sonora High School shot its best round of the season yesterday in a 281-315 girls' golf victory over Los Banos at Mountain Springs.

The Wildcats (4-7, 4-6 Valley Oak League) beat their previous best by seven strokes as Kelly Adams and Shannon Ferrell shot matching 53s to share medalist honors.

Suzie Long came in at 54, Amber Allen at 57 and Rori Rodriguez at 64.

"They girls are having fun and they're improving," Sonora coach Steve Lee. "The round we shot is right around what the league leaders have been shooting."

Jennifer Barnthouse was low for Los Banos with a 60.

Sonora is at Mountain Springs again tomorrow to play first-place Buhach Colony of Atwater at 3:30 p.m.
