Bad night for top seeds in slowpitch playoffs


All the No. 1 seeds fell in the Tuolumne County Recreation Department summer slowpitch playoffs at Standard Park last night.

In the Men's E division, No. 2-seeded Precision Pumps (6-5) knocked off the top-seeded and previously undefeated Big Dogs 15-11 in the championship game. Pumps pounded out a 28-7 semifinal victory over Mother Lode Coffee Shop (3-7), while the Dogs (10-1) made the finals with a 17-13 victory over No. 4 Shot to the Curb (2-8).

In Men's F, No. 4 Scott's Distributing (7-4) won its first championship with a 26-15 upset of the No. 1 .Coms (7-3) in the semifinals and a 19-4 victory over No. 2 Hetch Hetchy Water and Power (7-4) in the finals. Hetch Hetchy won 15-10 in the semis over the No. 3 MRL Rat Pack (6-4).

In the Women's division, No. 2 Black Oak Casino (7-4) rolled to a 23-4 title-game victory over the top-seeded Pizza Factory (8-2-1) after posting an 18-4 semifinal victory over No. 3 Pizza Plus (4-6). The Factory won its semifinal game 28-6 over No. 4 Fusion (1-8-1).

For tonight and tomorrow's playoff schedules, see Summaries on Page 3B. At stake tonight are titles in Men's F1, F2 and Super F, and Women's Super F. Tomorrow playoffs will be in Men's Church, F and Super F, and Thursday Women's E.

The summer season concludes tomorrow.
