LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNEYS, SOCCER CAMP DATES SET

Little League baseball's Section 6 Tournament for Majors (ages 11 and 12) begins today and runs through Sunday at Eproson Field in Twain Harte. High Sierra of Twain Harte, Soulsbyville and Belleview is the host organization and District 15 (Tuolumne, Calaveras and Amador counties, plus Linden) is the home district.

The first game is at 5 p.m. between District 15 champion Calaveras American of Angels Camp and Copperopolis and District 10 of Tracy. The winner plays tomorrow night at 8 against District 61 of Taft. The winner of that one plays Friday night at 8 against the winner of tonight's 8 o'clock game between District 8 of Stockton and District 34 of Visalia.

The championship round of the double-elimination tournament begins at 2 p.m. Sunday. The winning team advances to the Divisional Tournament in Roseville.

Schedules for the Minor and Junior Section tournaments, to be played in Sanger, are expected to be released tomorrow.

MLS Camps, affiliated with Major League Soccer, is offering individual and team sessions for players ages 12 and up from July 28 through Aug. 1 at Columbia College's Symons Field.

Individual workouts are scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon each day, and team activities from 5 to 8 p.m. The costs are $95 per individual and $1,000 per team.

Among the perks for campers is a companion voucher to attend an MLS game.
