COLUMBIA OFFERS HOOPS TOURNEYS

Columbia College is offering high school team tournament basketball camps on July 18 and 19, and again July 26 at Oak Pavilion.

Teams are guaranteed five games for an entry fee of $200 in the two-day event, and are guaranteed three games for $100 in the July 26 camp.

"We look forward to two fun-filled tournament dates with lots of competitive play," new Columbia coach Nathan Rien said. "it's also a great opportunity for us as a college to observe these high school players as prospects."

Sports physicals

Summerville High School students who plan on participating in athletics during the 2003-04 school year can get a required physical examination done at 6 p.m., Tuesday Aug. 5 at the school.

The cost is $20.

Mat camp

Jim Medeiros will conduct the annual Camp Harte Summer Wrestling Camp from July 20-26 in Twain Harte with the help of future Olympian Stephen Abas and a number of nationally-ranked wrestlers.

Soccer yard sale

The Storm, an under-14 girls' team representing Tuolumne County Youth Soccer, will hold a fund-raising yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. across from John's Sierra Bakery on Highway 108 in East Sonora.

The team also is on the lookout for sponsors. Anyone interested can call Karen Chabot at 536-9039.
