SWIMMERS SET 99 PERSONAL BESTS AT MINI-MEET

Tuolumne County Aquatics' first-year swimmers Russell Germain, Matt Scanlin and Abby Scroggs highlighted a mini meet on June 25 which saw swimmers set 99 personal-best scores.

Competing in the boys' 9- to 10-years-old age group, Germain dropped nearly 70 seconds from his four events, especially in the 50-meter breaststroke (25 seconds), 50 fly (15 seconds) and 50 backstroke (12 seconds).

Competing in the 7- to 8-years-old age groups, Scanlin and Scroggs each bettered their times in all four. Both improved significantly in the 25 fly with Scroggs dropping 35 seconds and Scanlin 22 seconds.

Other swimmers recording personal-bests in four events were Marissa Lupo, Meghan Murphy, Victoria Nelson, Katherine Hohne, Bennett Personius, Christian Personius and Jesse Wildoner.

Three personal-bests were achieved by Irl Barajas, Tony Barajas, Cheyenne Cloud, Kristen Hall, Olivia Hurley, Stephanie Jensen, Julian Personius, Elizabeth Watts and William Watts.

Six swimmers also achieved BB times at the mini-meet, making them eligible for the Junior Olympics in Redding later this month. Those swimmers were Patty Allen (200 breast), Sammy Guthrie (200 free), Skyler Jensen (50 back, 50 free), Stephanie Jensen (100 back), Marissa Lupo (100 back) and Tayler Thompson (50 free).

B-time marks were achieved by Elizabeth Watts (100 breast), Scott Shield (50 free, 100 free), Marissa Lupo (100 back), Kaylen Hewitt (100 back, 100 free) and Jenny Ferani (100 free).

Notable improvements were posted by Patty Allen in the 200 back and 200 breast (12-second improvement), Irl Barajas in the 50 breast (14 seconds), Cheyenne Cloud in the 50 breast (11 seconds), Kristen Hall in the 100 back (11 seconds) and 100 breast (15 seconds), Victoria Nelson in the 25 free (14) and Tayler Thompson in the 50 breast (15 seconds).

Making their first appearances in a TCA event were Kayley Rasmussen, Kyrstyn Pastton, Kyrsta Moorehouse, Alex Moorehouse, Jenna Milnik, Krystal Milnik, Liz Lam, Anni Handrock, John Garcia, Chris Garcia, Kade Barajas and Melissa Hallmeyer.
