Westside put together a late rally to beat Amador East 6-5 in seven innings yesterday in a second-round Minors (9- to 10-year-olds) game at Jerry Whitehead Field in Tuolumne.

After tying the game with a four-run sixth inning, Westside won the game in the seventh on the strength of Brady Day's legs.

Day doubled to lead off the inning and stole third. When Nathan Gray's infield popup fell, Day managed to beat the Amador East pitcher in a footrace to the plate to score the winning run.

Westside set up Day's heroics in the seventh with a clutch sixth inning. Trailing 5-1, Alex Kiriluk got the ball rolling for Westside (Tuolumne and Standard) with a two-run single, scoring Curtis Kellogg and Zack Roberson. After Mikey Gold doubled in Kiriluk, Colten Krieg drove a line drive off the glove of Amador East's first baseman, bring in Gold with the tying run.
