WOODS CREEK FALLS TO AMADOR WEST

In the only game of the double-elimination Minors tournament (9- to 10-year-olds) yesterday, Amador West (filling in for Calaveras National) defeated Woods Creek 7-5 at Jerry Whitehead Field in Tuolumne.

Woods Creek (Sonora and Columbia) moves into the losers bracket, where it will await the winner of tomorrow's elimination game between 49er (Jamestown, Groveland, Moccasin, Don Pedro) and High Sierra (Twain Harte, Soulsbyville, Belleview), scheduled for 6 p.m.

Today, Westside (Tuolumne and Standard) will play a winners-bracket game against Amador East.

On Thursday, Linden and Ebbetts Pass (Arnold, Murphy, Avery) will play an elimination game at 6 p.m. on Whitehead Field.

After a one-day break for the 4th of July, the tournament will resume with four games on Saturday. The day will begin with the winner of tomorrow's 49er-High Sierra game will face Woods Creek at 9 a.m. The second elimination game will feature the winner of Thursday's Linden-Ebbetts Pass game against the loser of today's Westside-Amador East game.

In the winners bracket, Calaveras American (Angels Camp and Copperopolis) will face Amador West at 3 p.m., followed by the winner of today's Amador East-West Side game against Foothills (Valley Springs) at 6 p.m.
