WESTSIDE IN TOC MAJORS SEMIFINAL

The Westside Rangers meet the Calaveras American Giants tonight at 7 in Twain Harte for the right to play the Foothills Red Sox of Valley Springs in the title game tomorrow night at 6.

Westside beat Amador West of Jackson 5-3 Friday and Cal American scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat the High Sierra A's 5-4 Saturday in

quarterfinal games. Also Saturday, Foothills edged Amador East 3-2 in a semifinal game.

Carson Gracia walked twice and scored once; Rick McColloch singled, scored and drove in a run; Phil Cupler scored once; Daniel Link single, scored and knocked in a run; Mikey Johnson walked and scored; and Mitch Brokmire went 1-for-3 for the Rangers.

Cupler pitched a complete game, striking out 14, walking six and allowing five hits and no earned runs.

Josh Kaup went 3-for-3 with a double for Amador West, which led 3-2 before Cupler and Link scored as a result of errors in the bottom of the third.

The Cal American-High Sierra game was one of the tournament's best. High Sierra took a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh when Ryan Stoltenberg singled, advanced on a passed ball and an infield out, and scored on an error.

Cal American won it in the bottom of the extra inning when Curt Jurgens reached on an error, David Walsh walked, the two advanced on a passed ball, and Clay Hamm singled both of them home.

Hamm worked the first six innings on the mound, striking out 10, walking four and allowing three hits and only one earned run. Andrew Nelson went six for High Sierra, fanning seven and giving up two earned runs.

Nelson also singled, scored and drove in a run; Tim Reel hit a run-scoring double; and Travis Sanchez singled and scored for the A's. For the Giants, Justin

Dillashaw singled, doubled and scored; James Mullaley doubled twice and scored; Andrew Richey singled; and Jurgens drove in a run.
