At Eproson Field in Twain Harte, the High Sierra Braves moved into the championship game with a 5-0 semifinal victory over the Woods Creek Muckdogs on Saturday.

The Braves will go for the title tomorrow night at 6 against the winner of today's 4:30 semifinal between the Westside Red Sox and the 49er Indians (Jamestown, Groveland, Moccasin, Don Pedro). Westside won 11-1 over Calaveras American (Angels Camp, Copperopolis) on Friday and 49er posted a 7-5 victory Saturday morning over Amador East (Sutter Creek).

Eddy Cruz and Matt Skinner each pitched three innings in High Sierra's victory, combining for 16 strikeouts while allowing only three hits.

The Braves, 3-0 in the single-elimination tournament, took a 1-0 lead in the first when Cruz singled and scored, and they upped their advantage to 2-0 in the second when Scooter Guidry singled home Raymond Miller, who'd been hit by a pitch.

Cruz reached on an error and scored on a double by Skinner in the third, and Skinner later scored via some base-stealing to make it 4-0. Singles by Cruz and

Will Baldwin accounted for the final run in the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, Skinner ended the game with two strikeouts after Woods Creek loaded the bases.

Cody Prater, Jacob Schultz and Austin Fleming got the hits, all singles, for the Muckdogs.

Westside broke open its game against Cal American with a nine-run fourth that saw singles by Mitchell Olson and Brady Day, plus six walks and an error. Dalton Day hit an inside-the-park home run in the third, and Chase Twohig went 1-for-2 and earned the pitching victory with three innings that included five strikeouts.

Jordan Poe tripled for Cal American.

The 49er victory was led by D.J. Van Brocklin, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored; Derek Dauth, who went 2-for-2 and knocked in three runs; and Jeremiah Baca, who tripled, drove in a run, scored a run and pitched into the sixth while striking out 11 and surviving 15 walks.
