Soccer star journeys to Hawaii

Jordan Vermillion, the two-time Mother Lode League Most Valuable Player for the Summerville High girls' team, is off to Hawaii for the American Youth Soccer Organization's Far West Regional Tournament beginning June 23.

Vermillion plays for the Elk Grove under-19 premier team, which earned the right to represent Northern California by winning the Snickers State Cup Championship at Cherry Island in Sacramento during the weekend.

The winner of the 16-team Honolulu event will qualify for the National Championship Tournament next month in Maryland.
