Summer softball revs up tomorrow


The Tuolumne County Recreation Department's summer softball season begins tomorrow night, with 79 teams entered in 15 fastpitch and slowpitch divisions.

Fastpitch gets things going with a pair of men's games tomorrow on Field 4 at the Standard Park complex. Mountain Bookshop takes on Townsend Drywall at 6:30 p.m., then Mother Lode Plumbing plays Cal Sierra at 8. The other fastpitch, Highlander Paint, which has a bye this week.

Also revving up tomorrow are coed E, F1 and F2 slowpitch teams. In coed, WunderWood Construction plays the Superiors at 6:30 and Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home goes against Bledsaw Roofing at 7:45, both on Field 2.

F1 games, on Field 1, have Code 3 playing Canning Construction at 6:45, Cutler-Segerstrom Insurance meeting Pick and Shovel at 8, and D-Fine Salon meeting Pick and Shovel at 9:15.

In F2, on Field 3, Central California Bank opens against Eddie's Legacy Wal-Mart at 6:45 and the Big Dawgs play The Union Democrat, at 8. On Field 2 at 9, Code 3 Club plays Dodge Ridge.

A number of slowpitch divisions kick in Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights (see complete schedule in Summaries, Page 3B).

The regular season continues through the week of Aug. 5 and the playoffs are the week of Aug. 12.
