Swimmers good all over the place

Tuolumne County Aquatic age-group and Masters swimmers turned in a bevy of strong performances in meets all over the map.

Age-group swimmers posted 149 personal bests in the Davis B meet and in an intrasquad mini-meet at Sonora Sport and Fitness Center, while the Masters took top honors in open-water swims in San Mateo and at Spring Lake in Santa Rosa.

In Davis, Nicole Henderson, Austin Nieh and Aren Forster led a parade of 49 bests.

Henderson, swimming on her birthday weekend in her last meet as a 10-year-old, had seven bests that included her first two "A" times in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.93) and the 100 freestyle (1:11.75). Her 100 free time was a nine-second

improvement.

Nieh, 13, achieved BB standards in the 100 backstroke and the 200 individual medley, and B times in the 200 back (improving by 15 seconds) and the 200 breast.

Forster swam seven bests that included B times in the 50 and 100 back, the 50 and 100 free, and the 100 IM.

The club's mini-meet saw Kristen Hall, Tara Rose Edwards, Jonathan Nelson and Elizabeth Ordway pace 43 swimmers to 100 bests.

Hall, 13, had bests in all six of her events, improving by 20 seconds in the 100 free, back and breast.

Debuting in a new age group, Edwards, Nelson and Ordway improved in all their events. Edwards improved by 52 seconds in four event with a B time in the 50 back,

Nelson dropped 13 seconds in the 50 free and Ordway went 12 seconds faster than ever in the 50 fly.

In the Masters meet at San Mateo, Mica Van Noord won the one-mile event in the 25-29 age group with a time of 22:48 in 57-degree water. She placed seventh overall.

At Spring Lake, Leigh Ann Blessing won the mile in 60-degree water in 23:19. Susan White was second in 30:18 in the 60-64 age groups.

Van Noord was sixth in 25-29 at Spring Lake in 26:30, and Dave Harmer was eighth in 55-59.

TCA swimmers earned points on the Pacific Masters circuit, which includes an event at Pinecrest Lake in August.
