Three sports rund-raisers to benefit Wildcats

Sonora High School will play host to a triple athletic fund-raiser Friday, May 16, for the football, boys' basketball and track programs.

Track will benefit from a rigatoni dinner to be held in the school cafeteria from 5 to 7 p.m. At 7, the varsity basketball team will take on a faculty and staff team in Bud Castle Gym. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students, with proceeds helping send the Wildcats to a tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo., early next season.

At halftime of the game, football players will be auctioned off four at a time by Sonora teacher and former auctioneer Mike Macon to do yard work, painting and other household chores for those who "buy" them. Money raised by the auction will go toward the purchase of new green helmets.

All three events will be held in conjunction with the school's annual "Fun in the Sun" celebration.
