BH golfers complete sweep of MLL duals

One step remains for the Bret Harte High School boys' golf team before it can claim a second straight Mother Lode League championship.

The Bullfrogs (17-1, 15-0) completed a sweep of their MLL dual matches yesterday with an easy 216-277 victory over Summerville in cold and windy conditions at Greenhorn Creek. All they have to do to clinch the overall title is finish fourth or better in tomorrows MLL Tournament at Castle Oaks in Ione.

The only way the Bullfrogs can lose out is if they finish fifth about as likely as a weekend duffer beating Tiger Woods in match play and second-place Linden wins the tournament.

Chris Boucher and Erik Kifune shot six-over-par 42s, Scott Kifune and A.J. Stewart carded 43s, and Darren Baca came in at 46 against Summerville (6-9), which got a 44 from Corey Van Houten.

Tomorrow, the top two teams and top six individuals not on those teams will qualify for the Small-School Sub-Section Tournament on Monday at Diablo Grande in Patterson.
