Bowling: Title time in winter leagues

IT'S TITLE TIME at Sonora Family Bowl as winter leagues wind down for the season.

Drex Wrex claimed the overall championship in the SIRS men's league. Drex Oliver, Len Jacques, Don Lloyd, and Roy Creager reign supreme.

Either Confidence Log Works, the first-half winner, or Kevin's Downtown Auto, the second-half champ, will win the Monday Nevada championship as they meet in a roll-off.

The Goody Locker is the second-half champ in both Guys and Dolls and City Twilight, and the Pin Busters (Fred Persson, Roberta Holgerson, Pat Otto, Laura Persson, Bill Kelly) own the second-half title in Tuesday's Finest.

THE TOP SCORES of the week were a 682 series by Larry Rush in Monday Nevada, a 665 by John Crass in Morning Rollers, and a 663 by John Miller in Dolls.

Rust bested his average by 115 pins, while Leroy Tuttle topped his by 106 with a 610 in Dolls.

BOTH OF the men's titles in the latest Senior No-Tap Tournament were won by Carroll Manning.

He bowled the high scratch game, a 253, and the high handicap series, a 794. For women, Joy Avila had the high game (227) and Jeanne Everett the high series (724).

Roger Hecht was second in men's game (244) and Ed Wells third (238), while Wells was second in series (720) and Hecht third (714). Marcie Wells was second in women's game (217) and series (709), with Everett third in game (183) and Sylvia Divita third in series (698).
