Tioga baseball, softball teams fall

LODI Tioga High School dropped a 10-0, six-inning baseball decision at Elliot Christian yesterday.

The Timberwolves (2-5, 2-4 Mountain Valley League) and starting pitcher Michael Cassidy limited first-place Elliot to four runs through the first four innings before getting roughed up for five runs in the fifth.

"Actually, we played really, really well for four-plus innings," Tioga coach Clint Maxon said. "Michael just kind of ran out of gas. (Elliot) did a good job of waiting on him and making him throw a lot of pitches."

Stephen Meeks led the Tioga offense with a 2-for-4 day at the plate.

The Timberwolves will play a makeup game against Mother Lode Christian at the Sonora Dome on Tuesday.

A 10-run third inning by Elliot led to a 19-5, five-inning loss for the Timberwolves.

Shelbi Bodine knocked in all the runs in Tioga's three-run fifth inning with a bases-loaded triple.

The Timberwolves (2-7, 1-4) will play Mother Lode at Standard Park on Tuesday.
