Senior Andrew Silva took medalist honors with a round of 77 for the Wildcats at Stevinson Ranch in Stevinson in the fifth of six regular-season VOL boys' tournaments. He is far and away the leader in all-VOL points with 88, a whopping 29 more than John Montes of Oakdale.

"Andrew is really stepping up," Sonora coach Steve Lee said. "He's in good shape to be the league's MVP."

He won by two strokes yesterday over Shane O'Brien from Pitman of Turlock.

Sonora had its roughest day as a team, shooting a season-high 445 and finishing a season-low fifth. The Wildcats still are in second place overall, however, trailing Oakdale 65-53.

The VOL gathers again Monday at Diablo Grande in Patterson for a tournament hosted by Pitman. The league championship tournament is April 28 at Pheasant Run in Chowchilla.

Rainouts

Sonora's home softball game against Los Banos, Tioga's home baseball and softball games against Stockton Christian and Tioga's home golf match against Mariposa were postponed yesterday, and Summerville's home baseball and softball games against Amador and Sonora's home tennis match against Oakdale were called off today.
