Baseball Frogs blanked again, 6-0

PATTERSON Bret Harte High School's baseball team was shut out for the second straight time yesterday, 6-0 by Patterson in a non-league game.

The Bullfrogs (6-5) haven't score in 14 innings, as they were previously blanked by Linden 1-0 in a Mother Lode League game last Friday.

"It's getting hard to handle," Bret Harte coach Heath Lane said. "We're really struggling right now."

Except for leadoff hitter Ken Baptista, who went 3-for-3 to account for all but one of Bret Harte's hits.

"They were all well-hit," Lane said of Baptista's singles. "Kenny's the only one hitting with any consistency."

Patterson pitcher Rafael Arroyo shut the Bullfrogs down, striking out 13 and walking two. At the plate, Arroyo and Aaron Reza both went 3-for-4 for the Tigers (8-2), who share first place in the Trans-Valley League.

Ryan Carter pitched four innings and Anthony Bennett two for Bret Harte, with Carter taking the loss.

The Bullfrogs play the other TVL co-leader, Livingston, tomorrow at 3:30 at the Bret Harte diamond.

Bret Harte (5-8) got thumped in the first two innings of an 11-5 road loss to TVL leader Ripon (12-1), which scored four runs in the bottom of the first and five in the second.

Bullfrog pitcher Christian Pierazzi went through the ordeal, which Bret Harte coach Todd Airola said "wasn't her fault. Our defense didn't have a good day."

Heather Sundling went 2-for-4 and Kim Canham 2-for-3 for the Bullfrogs, Sundling scoring two runs and Canham scoring one and driving one in.

Stephanie Rodriguez led Ripon by going 2-for-3 and scoring twice. Christian Meilousu did the pitching for the Indians.
