SUTTER CREEK Bret Harte High School remained unbeaten and unscored-upon early in the Mother Lode League girls' soccer race last night with a 5-0 victory over Amador.

The Bullfrogs (6-2-3, 2-0 MLL) blanked archrival Calaveras in their league opener last Friday.

Natalie Kramer scored two goals and Megan Shires, Julie Lauterbach, and Kathleen Avrit one goal each against Amador (0-2). Shires now has nine on the season, Lauterbach seven, and Kramer five. Avrit's goal was her first.

Lauterbach notched her seventh assists, while Eva Oliver and Melissa Garcia each got her first assist.

The Bullfrogs have outscored their last three opponents 17-0, building momentum toward Tuesday's big road game against undefeated Summerville, the two-time defending MLL and Sac-Joaquin Section Division III champion. The Bears (11-0, 2-0) beat Linden 3-1 last night.

Tuesday's kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Tuolumne.

Bret Harte's victory over Amador wasn't as easy as the score might suggest the game was scoreless at halftime.

Bret Harte exploded after intermission, scoring its goals in less than 30 minutes. Lauterbach broke the ice with a shot in traffic 10 yards from the goalmouth, and Kramer who had just moved up from stopper to center forward made it 2-0 with a hard shot until the upper right corner of the net.

Shires put the Bullfrogs ahead 3-0 when she intercepted a goal kick and one-touched the ball into the twine. She took the team scoring lead on the play.

Avrit's goal came next on a low drive from the left said, and Kramer capped the outburst off a headed pass from Garcia.

"One again, the second half was awesome," Bret Harte coach John Yost said. "When these girls go all out and play as well as they are capable of playing, they really put on a show."

The defense was stalwart throughout, allowing only one shot on goal. Keeper Tawnie Lee continually beat the Buffaloes to loose balls, while fullbacks Oliver and Alana Castaneda turned back many Amador challenges.
