Baseball Frogs rally past Ripon Christian

Bret Harte High School rallied from a five-run deficit to post a 10-7 baseball victory yesterday over non-league opponent Ripon Christian at the Bret Harte diamond.

The Bullfrogs (4-2) trailed 7-2 after Ripon Christian exploded for six runs in the top of the third inning.

"I was starting to get a little stressed," Bret Harte coach Heath Lane said.

Lane's team struck back with a six-run rally of its own in the bottom of the fourth, highlighted by Anthony Bennett's three-run double.

J.T. Ulyatt, just back from knee surgery, singled and doubled, Matt Muller hit a run-scoring double, and Judd Bales also rapped a double as the Bullfrogs totaled nine hits.

Sean Nelson started on the mound and gave up an unearned run in two innings, then Ryan Reeves and Wes Hacker struggled through the third. Ryan Carter took over in the fourth and blanked the Knights the rest of the way, striking out five and walking four.

Bret Harte hosts Hughson today in its final game before the start of Mother Lode League play Friday against archrival Calaveras in San Andreas.
