SAN LUIS OBISPO Sonora High School's swim teams finished fourth and sixth in the San Luis Obispo Relays on Saturday.

The girls were fourth in the 13-school field, led by the performance of 4x100-yard relay teammates Patty Allen, Katie Baier, Brittney Martino, and Melisa Hough. They swam a Sac-Joaquin Section varsity qualifying time (4:03.12) while finishing third.

Allen's leadoff leg (1:01.94) was a frosh-soph qualifying time, and Baier's second leg (56.54) was a varsity qualifier and the fastest of the race for the Wildcats.

Also, the girls' 200 medley team of Lisa Watts, Becky Clinite, Martino, and Kristi Calbert finished eighth (2:13.93).

The boys took sixth as a team, with their 4x100 team of Josh Land, Riley Marmesh, Curtis Rappe, and Jay Repetto taking seventh and posting a varsity qualifying time (3:49.17).

"The weather was perfect and the kids swam a bunch of super times," coach LaDeane Hansten said.

The boys' 200 medley team of James Pedro, Danny Scott, Stephen Grant, and Land came home eighth in (2:08.93). Grant, who had three personal bests, was named boys' swimmer of the meet by Hansten.

In the mixed 200 medley, Sonora took third (2:06.85) with Zach Lemas, Clinite, Corynne Guthrie, and Robert Dickerson.

Guthrie also had a five-second improvement in her leg of the girls' 200 individual medley relay (2:38.29) in helping Sonora finish sixth (7:59.35) along with Heather Fisher and Allen (2:29.87, varsity qualifying time).
