BH's Pierazzi pitches no-hitter in tourney

SALIDA Christina Pierazzi pitched a no-hitter for the Bret Harte High School softball team yesterday as the Bullfrogs beat Rio Vista 10-0 in the first round of the Modesto Christian Tournament.

Pierazzi struck out seven, walked three, and hit one batter. She got hitting support from Ellie McCracken, who doubled, singled, and scored two runs.

The Bullfrogs (4-3) drove in only one of their runs, cashing in mostly on seven Rio Vista errors.

"It wasn't a pretty win," Bret Harte coach Todd Airola said. "Rio Vista is just getting their program going, and it was their first game."

The tournament continues today and tomorrow. After that, Bret Harte hosts Ripon Christian in a non-league game Monday at Copello Park, then opens Mother Lode League play next Friday at Calaveras.
