Led by Chris Boucher's round of 40, the Bret Harte High School boys' golf team knocked off previously unbeaten Sonora 216-223 yesterday at Mountain Springs.

Boucher was four-over-par for the Bullfrogs (2-1), who also got a 41 from Scott Kifune, a 43 from Kris Svendsen, a 45 from Darren Baca, and a 47 from Ryan Burke.

Kifune recovered from hitting his first shot of the day into the water along the right side of the No. 1 fairway.

"We're not playing as good as we can, but we're doing all right," Bret Harte coach Rich Cathcart said.

Andrew Silva's 41 led Sonora (3-1).

Bret Harte has a break before beginning Mother lode League play March 4 against Amador at Greenhorn Creek.
