Disappointed in

poll results

To the Editor:

I lived in Sonora up until 2008 when circumstances led me away, and I have to say that after reading your most recent poll (about the kidnapping of children in Nigeria) and seeing the results, I'm shocked. I was always under the impression that the citizens of Sonora were a kind and caring bunch who readily came to their neighbor's aid.

I say this because as a member of a local church there, I witnessed time and again this community pulling together in times of fire, feeding the hungry and more. For the majority of those taking this poll who want to bury their heads in the sand rather than help 200-plus children, no matter where or what racial makeup they are is very disturbing. The only explanation I can think of is it must be flatlanders who have recently arrived. Sonora, you're better than this.
