In support of

Kaenan Whitman

To the Editor:

I recently had the pleasure of visiting with Candidate Kaenan Whitman who is running for Tuolumne County Assessor-Recorder. I believe he is the man for the job! This bright, young man definitely has the taxpayer's best interest at heart. I am positive that he would provide fair and accurate property assessments. In addition to running the office fairly and professionally, Mr. Whitman as our County Assessor- Recorder would work to accomplish other goals for Tuolumne County:

Mr. Whitman wants to make the Assessor-Recorder's office run more cost effectively. He explained to me that this is possible due to a recent change in state law which if implemented would save our county money while giving some small business owners a tax break. It is a win-win situation for all involved!

Mr. Whitman also wants to see Tuolumne County adopt Proposition 90 which will allow persons 55 and over to transfer their Prop 13 base year value from other counties to ours. This would give Tuolumne County some "curb appeal" to people that want to retire in a "retiree friendly community". These new residents would come with the money they have saved in their 401(K) and the pension dollars they have earned. Much of that money would be spent in Tuolumne County.

Mr. Whitman is in the Tuolumne County Assessor's office as an appraiser and is certified real property tax. Mr. Whitman's grandfather, William "Bill" Gerber, originally developed Ponderosa Hills. So Mr. Whitman has deep appreciation for this county.

Mr. Whitman is endorsed by the Tuolumne County Assessor-Recorder, Ken Caetano and Assistant Assessor, Kevin Townsend.

I believe a vote for Kaenan Whitman is a vote for a hard-working, competent manager who will work for the taxpayer's. He's definitely got my vote!

Walmart will put an end to union jobs

To the Editor:

This is in response to Ray Anderson's letter dated May 2. You are absolutely right, Mr. Anderson, we will need a new Walmart food expansion center because if this passes there are soon to be many more poor folks who will be needing the financial assistance of the Chinese based in Arkansas. Unions? What unions? Minimum wage for all, yeah team. P.S. The toilet paper is a good deal at Walmart.
