'Les Misérables'

a theatrical treat

To the Editor:

What a treat! Sierra Repertory Theatre's "Les Miserables" is a truly exceptional production. I highly recommend seizing the chance to see it while it is here for a fraction of the price you would pay for a Broadway ticket, with a cast that surpasses other productions. The powerful music and memorable story will move you, www.sierrarep.org.

Thank God for smart guys

To the Editor:

I'm sick of being ignorant, and I want to change. The other day (I can't remember when exactly) some guy wrote to the editor about creation and evolution and "intelligent design" and he had the answer to ignorance! He's got all the answers, and I finally realized that I ain't got any! I used to think that keeping an open mind was the way to go. Now that guy has opened my eyes, and I'm finally weary of my life-long stupidity. Thank God for smart, non-ignorant guys!

Circumventing the democratic process

To the Editor:

I understand Mr. Ragan's feeling of connection to like minded individuals. However, the groups Mr. Ragan refers to, Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center (CSERC) and Citizens for Responsible Growth, have been suing, and threatening to sue, everyone with whom they do not agree. They do this in a deliberate attempt to circumvent the democratic process and to put themselves above the voters of this county. This is unacceptable and contrary to the principles of a representative democracy. We have a democratic process for making community decisions. Yet, the "agencies" Mr. Ragan refers to have put their own opinion above all others. They think that we should all live according to their ideas. They have let us know that they will continually bombard local businesses with lawsuits, threats of lawsuits, and public misinformation if our community doesn't comply to their will. Is this the kind of community that we want?
