Internet scammingstill going strong

To the Editor:

I received an email from a "close friend" who was supposedly stuck in Kiev Croatia after being robbed, beaten etc. asking for money to get home. I called the friend in Southern California, and he answered the phone saying a lot of folks had called and found him home and well, never having gone anywhere.

Obviously this is another scam from foreigners to get money from the unsuspecting. Apparently this computer hacking is growing. It used to be phone calls from "grandsons" etc. who were in trouble in desperate need of money. My friend checked with his Internet provider and has lost all his messages and address book, etc. and has had to totally revise his Internet program.

I just share this so others may be informed and aware.

Jean Bullman
