Pondering the national debt

To the Editor:

The Tea Party grassroots movement is much closer to the principles of our founders than the liberal mindset of our current politicians in power. They were the main opposition to the out of control spending that led to the partial government shutdown, because the Democrats and the president refused to negotiate on anything.

In 2006 Obama said that deficit spending was unpatriotic but now supporters of limiting our borrowing (46 percent of our government spending) are called terrorists and hostage takers. Obama said that increasing our debt limit doesn't increase our national debt. Try that with your Visa card.

Obama and the major media are not telling the truth about the costs of the Affordable Care Act. He lied about the savings and keeping your current coverage for millions of Americans. How about $630 million on a no-bid contract for a website that doesn't work? A Canadian company, not American, that had been fired by the Canadian government. Now we have to correct the problems caused by our incompetent government using American talent.

How does increasing the national debt by $6.5 trillion connect with reality? He promised in 2008 to cut the deficit in half yet he spent more than $1 trillion a year of money that we didn't have for 5 years straight. Try that idea with your household budget.
