Kellog not

perfect, but great

To the Editor:

I would like to share my experience at Sonora High School with you.

I have heard recently that Stan Kellogg is in great danger of losing his job at Sonora High School and being moved to Cassina High School. This is absurd.

When I attended Sonora High School, 2007 to 2011, I always hung out with the kids in the ag program. I was never in it myself, but I was always at the FFA barbecues at the football games helping out and being part of a FAMILY. Stan Kellogg never acted like I didn't belong because I wasn't in the program. Instead he treated me as one of his own kids and taught me things around the barbecue.

If you remove him, not only do you lose the family environment he has created, but also the academic teachings and life lessons as well. That is an awful lot to lose, especially in a day where kids are stuck on cell phones and not even paying attention to the real hard things in life. What happens when these kids are thrown into the real world?

Mr. Kellogg is not perfect, but nobody is and that is the beauty of how he teaches. When you are not perfect and admit to it, you have more respect, especially from the kids you work with.

My life has thrown me some curve balls and when things really got tough and I didn't know what to do, I called Mr. Kellogg. He was always there for me, to help me through all sorts of problems. Many of Stan Kellogg's past students still keep in touch with him and his family. That is really something.

He does not deserve this treatment, and this is not the first time. My letter is not the first or last that will be sent in for him. He has a huge family of not only relatives but former and current colleagues, former and current students, former and current friends, I mean really think about it. But the thing about this whole problem we are having is, have you once asked the students? The most affected by this decision are the future students who will not have a chance to meet a person that could help them not only in high school, but through their whole life.

I am truly disappointed in the Sonora High School District.
