Credit reports know more than the NSA

To the Editor:

The next time you are thumbing through your recent calls on your cell phone you will see exactly the same data that NSA is getting from your phone company-date, phone number called, and length of call. The NSA will not see any names you have added on your phone. They have no intention of ever looking at any of this data unless your calls can be connected to foreign calls by a suspected terrorist. It would be nice if we could ask the phone company to only provide data for people who talk to terrorists. Obviously, that would be impossible.

If you would like to see who really has a lot of data about you, go check your credit report. These people (whoever they are) have records of everything about your finances - credit card records, house loan records, delinquent tax records, and lots of other stuff. People looking through my credit report have cause me lots of problems. I've never had a problem with anyone looking at my phone record.

Rounding up the undesirables

To the Editor:

I am heartened to hear President Obama state that lives have been saved by what otherwise seems like baseless spying on ordinary citizens. Imagine how many more lives could be saved by rounding up anyone who looks or acts suspiciously.

Womens' pay behind the times

To the Editor:

Who cares where Jimmy Hoffa is buried? What a waste of time and taxpayers money. More importantly why not equal pay for equal work? Your guest editors, Debra Bolter, Carolyn Lott, Nancy Michaud and Carol Malispina brought up some disturbing facts on the editorial page, June 18.

It is time for a change. Let your congressman know that 50 years has passed and we are still behind times.

Donna Dodge
