Rich keep getting richer, poor keep getting poorer

To the Editor:

Supporting a livable working wage and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) isn't ignorant nor will it eliminate jobs. Since 2004, lawmaker's median net worth grew 15 percent; the wealthiest one percent gained 121 percent of income while net worth for citizen average fell eight percent.

Welfare queens went from government cheese to corporate bonuses - taken from the working poor and middle-class to feed corporate welfare via federal subsidies, like vampires draining fiscal blood from the veins of our paychecks. In January, the Wall Street Journal criticized the new tax bill's "seedier underside is the $40 billion or so in tax payoffs to every crony capitalist and special pleader with a lobbyist worth his million-dollar salary."

The austerity cuts (sequestration) robs education, first responders, senior programs and WIC (pregnant women/children), while elitist tax loopholes, such as for corporate jets, remain intact. Aren't raising gas prices like tax hikes on disposable income? Yet Congressional salaries - $175,000 per year with annual cost-of-living raises - are dependent on American paychecks regardless of how much it costs citizens to get to work.

Corporate welfare needs a giant enema to clean-out the system because all greedy, little rats hang in the same cesspool - including the corporate media flying with political cronies in corporate jets. With nary a protest from a nation being robbed, Wall Street will keep committing crimes without doing the time while corporate welfare shops on our dime.

If we don't end corporate America's free lunch, Meals-on-Wheels will park it and force grandma to get her own sandwich, all because behemoth industries, like utilities and fossil fuels, don't want to pay an equal distribution of wealth. If Congress worked for minimum wage, think it would be McPaychecks without benefits?
