Grateful for help in time of need

To the Editor:

I want to thank the members of the Matuca Chapter 1849, who helped with the funeral of their Humbug, Rick Davey.

A special thanks to Tom and Leslie for their help before and after the funeral, and John Wood for everything he has done.

Thanks to everyone who brought food.

Thank you to all who came to celebrate the life of Rick.

Patricia Davey

Not against all guns, just assault weapons

To the Editor:

In reply to Richard Klidies' letter in the March 18 Union Democrat, I feel I must respond. Speaking for myself and most folks I know who feel as I do, we are not against gun ownership! We believe in the Second Amendment and feel everyone has a right to keep a firearm in their homes for protection, target shooting or for hunting. It's the assault weapons, the semi-automatic and the large capacity ammunitions that I am against. When will all of you gun rights people understand this? Please don't put me in the category of not wanting to protect my family. I just want the rest of the citizens of this country to give up their assault weapons, not their small caliber weapons!

New TUD board is off to a good start

To the Editor:

I agree with Mr. Richardson's letter of March 18. What a breath of fresh air the new board is. Not only did they block the rate increase they also refused to go along willingly with Mr. Kampa's every suggestion.
