A special thanks for Beth Barnes

To the Editor:

Re: Beth Barnes, Veterans Wonder Woman.

I am writing because I feel that Beth Barnes has done so much for the veterans of Tuolumne County. She has worked tirelessly to provide our vets with the best information, assistance with programs and much more.

When my now deceased husband was in desperate need of some help trying to get benefits and then later for me after he passed on, Beth was fundamental in making the process go smoothly.

Beth helped with making appointments with Reno VA for veterans evaluations, helped us get paperwork together and was ready to find a driver if necessary. Whenever there was a question, I would call Beth and she would help right away.

Beth was a motivating factor in seeing that I started college and helped get funds from a surviving spouse educational benefit. I am proud to say I hold a degree in human services thanks to Beth and her hard work. I am and will always be indebted to Beth for helping make our lives better when my husband was alive and after he passed away.

I always knew that Beth would be there if I had a question about benefits, new programs for surviving spouses, and questions about health insurance available for surviving widows, etc.

I know there are many veterans and their wives and children in Tuolumne County that have been touched by Beth and her hard work, whether it was making phone calls, appointments or paperwork. She is an asset to the veterans of this county.
