Where do donations to Red Cross go?

To the Editor,

On the aftermath of another devastating event, Hurricane Sandy, following the very tragic, devastating Hurricane Katrina (to name only a couple), the American Red Cross is first on hand to ask for donations to help victims, always totaling millions of dollars.

But, I have often wondered how and where is this money being used helping those in need? I read the newspapers but I have not read any accountability of these funds. I am skeptical because there seems to be so many people reporting that there is no help and FEMA-government help is so slow.

Certainly, a big organization like the Red Cross can afford to have printed how much and where the money is being used. I believe that most people donating would be appreciative of that information.

Don't you think? I know I would.
