Union Democrat staff

Bret Harte youth swimmers

get cooperation and support

To the Editor:

Your paper published an article a few weeks ago regarding Bret Harte Union School District and their Facility Use policies. Your reporter didn't interview the many parents in attendance with views in support of the school superintendent and aquatic director, and all they have done for the youth swim program. The school superintendent and the aquatic center director offered greatly reduced fees to our youth swim league long before the school board meetings occurred. As a parent with a child in the district, I'm thankful for the watchful eye over the financial and operational well being of Bret Harte's facilities. As a volunteer for the youth swim program, I can say the district has been extremely generous and cooperative in getting this program started and making it affordable to our families.
