Unemployed with no assistance

To the Editor:

I don't get it. When a person goes to prison, their debt is supposed to be paid.

However, it is clearly only the beginning of their odyssey. I have worked my whole life. I have also suffered from substance abuse my whole adult life. Now I suffer from being unemployable.

I have many marketable skills, however no one wants to employ a man with my background.

I used to lie. It would take several weeks to find out what a villain I was, and by this time my value had declared itself and I was always kept on the job.

Thanks to the information highway, this is no longer an option.

I am refused cash aid or any type of food stamps, EBT or otherwise. This is due to a drug sales charge. This is final and forever.

Now, if I had committed aggravated assault, that would not exclude me from receiving aid. But society thinks they are more valuable than me. To be fed and given cash and ID.

Employable throw away person.

Senseless act;

tragic consequence

To the Editor:

This letter is directed to the speeding driver on Jacksonville Road that ran over and killed our dog as we were crossing the road.

You didn't have the courtesy to stop, say you were sorry or face my two little granddaughters ages 10 and 7. Because of you they no longer have Bella (that was her name) to sleep on their bed at night and keep the monster in the closet or keep them safe as they rode their bikes on our ranch.

I hope you can live with yourself because you killed a member of our family and we are having a very difficult time living without her.
