Last year's storms

To the Editor:

With the weather report predicting arctic snow fronts creating snow levels to 1,500 feet I remember last winter's storms. Yes, we suffered in our homes, no electricity, heat, TV, etc. huddled under blankets. I failed to adequately thank the PG&E, phone, and television crews who braved the horrific weather to restore our comforts. A very heartfelt, tho belated "thank you" to those who help make living here worth the inconvenience.

Propane prices

To the Editor:

Propane prices going up? Not yet. The wholesale price of propane changes every Thursday it can be found in the butane propane news (BPN) as well as other sources. On 2-16-12 the price was $1.56 per gallon. On 2-23-12 the price was $1.48 per gallon.

People should negotiate a sliding scale price with their supplier and monitor the wholesale price. In my opinion, residential customers should not pay over 60 cents per gallon over wholesale (tax free for primary residence). If you are on a meter, one gallon of propane is equal to 36.38 cubic feet

Rotary Dog Park

To the Editor:

Over the past few months a number of articles have appeared in The Union Democrat discussing the progress of the Sonora Sunrise Rotary Dog Park being developed on Covey Circle just off Greenley Road. None of these articles have made mention of an individual whose vision, persistence, energy and drive have been the moving force behind this project. I believe that the efforts of Jim Cherry should be acknowledged and applauded. Were it not for his hard work and particularly his fund raising efforts, none of this would have happened.

I salute Jim and his fellow Rotarians for their community spirit and volunteerism.

By the way, you don't have to own a dog to enjoy this beautiful park.
